An Iowa Marching Band & Illinois Cheer Squad Will Perform At Two Big Bowl Games
It's always cool to see our corner of the world in the spotlight for something cool and two local schools will be doing just that.
We're in bowl season for college football and next week, teams will face off in multiple bowls. There are so many bowl games you'll see as you're flipping through channels but there's a prominent few called the New Year's Six and another big one called the Citrus Bowl, that pits an SEC team against a Big Ten team.
This time, Iowa and Illinois will have a tie to the games.
Pella Marching Band- Rose Bowl
Pella, Iowa's own Marching Dutch marching band will perform at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, according to KCCI. They were selected in October 2021 and have been fundraising for the opportunity since then.
This marks the third time that the Pella Marching Dutch will perform at the Rose Bowl.
They will march through Disneyland for the Rose Parade and perform their own spin on the "Iowa Corn Song" and also their halftime show.
You can catch the Rose Bowl on Monday, January 2nd at 4:00 p.m. CT. The Rose Parade will be on ABC on Monday from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Erie-Prophetstown Cheer- Citrus Bowl
Meanwhile, Illinois will be represented in Florida at the Citrus Bowl by the Erie-Prophetstown cheer squad. KWQC says that the team earned the opportunity to cheer at the game after they won a trophy at a National Cheerleader's Association Camp in Ames.
The Citrus Bowl will be on Monday, January 2nd at noon on ABC.
Good luck to these talented young people in their performances next week!
