The event is called "bare as you dare".

A popular bike ride is happening this weekend in Chicago (and across the U.S.): the annual World Naked Bike Ride.

And yep, it's what it sounds like. It's not the bikes that are in the buff.

According to the event listing on Choose Chicago, check-in for bicyclists and skaters will start at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and the ride will start at 8.

The whole thing is meant to highlight bicyclist visibility and body positivity.

I absolutely could not imagine the chafing. The post from the event reminds you:

Due to legal restrictions full frontal nudity is at your own risk but many participants do go all out.

So maybe for peace of mind, at least bring underwear? Body paint and fun stuff is encouraged. In fact, body painting will be available for bikers and skaters before the race begins. It's recommended to bring a helmet, water, snacks, shoes, and yes some clothes as a precaution.

The race will wrap up around 11:30 p.m. NBC Chicago says that there's normally an afterparty following the race. The event will happen rain or shine and riders are encouraged to ride in a mass together to stay safe. There will be bike marshals in yellow vests throughout the route if bikers have any trouble.

The official route will be posted tonight (Friday) and will be similar to the route from last year. You can get more details about the race at Choose Chicago's website or the Facebook event listing.
