Bettendorf, Iowa City West Football Game Canceled

For all of the Bettendorf Bulldogs fans out there, we have good and bad news for you. The bad news: tonight's game in between Bettendorf and Iowa City West has been canceled. The good news: Bettendorf gets the win.

In an email obtained by Townsquare Media, the administrators from the Bettendorf Community School announced that tonight's Bettendorf, Iowa City West football game is canceled.

In the email, Bettendorf school officials said,

"We have just been notified by the Iowa City West Administration that tonight's varsity and sophomore football games have been cancelled due to multiple illnesses and injuries within the Iowa City West football program."

Tonight's game was scheduled to kickoff at 7:15 p.m. in Iowa City. Both Bettendorf and Iowa City West were going into tonight's game with an overall record of 2-4. ​​​​​​​The game tonight will be forfeited by Iowa City West and will count as a win for Bettendorf making Bettendorf's record 3-4 and Iowa City West's record 2-5.

Bettendorf's next football game will be at home against the 4-2 Cedar Falls Tigers on Friday, October 15th. The kickoff time for that game is at 7:15 p.m. with the sophomore game being played before.

Officials said in the email that coaches and players will be able to conduct practices tonight and tomorrow if they wish to do so. Further communication will come from the coaches on practice times.
