The Hawkeyes legend is joining an elite list.

From the viewpoints of Iowans, it's been especially cool to watch Caitlin Clark's rise to the top. She helped take Iowa's women's basketball team to the 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament National Championship. She then took the WNBA by storm and joined the Indiana Fever.

We've seen her do great things through the Caitlin Clark Foundation. She has multiple accolades in her WNBA career (including the WNBA single-season assist record holder) already and in college became the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer.

And for us in Iowa, the Des Moines native is a queen.

Now, Forbes has named Caitlin to their list of 2025's Most Powerful Women in Sports.

Not only that, but she's listed as #4 out of 25.

Forbes considered women who are team owners/investors, women business executives, front-office leaders, athletes, and "amplifiers" (which are media personalities and influencers).

For metrics, they looked at "proprietary team valuations, company and sport revenue figures, media mentions, and social media follower and engagement data".

Caitlin is the 2nd-youngest woman on the list, right after 21-year-old tennis star Coco Gauff.

Forbes said about Clark:

Caitlin Clark has turned her record-breaking college basketball career into early dominance in the WNBA. Her estimated $8.1 million in income from her rookie season with the Indiana Fever was bolstered by big deals with Nike, Wilson and Gatorade and signals a shift in how female athletes are being valued in the world of professional sports. Last month, the Fever announced that Clark would be sidelined with an injury for the remainder of the WNBA season to focus on her recovery, but the injury doesn’t change the fact that Clark has, in the last two years, been the spark that lit the match that set women’s sports on fire.

The 3 women that ranked above Caitlin were:

  • #1. Gayle Benson (Owner, New Orleans Saints & New Orleans Pelicans)
  • #2. Amy Howe (CEO, FanDuel)
  • #3. Amy Montagne (Brand President, Nike)

Honestly, Caitlin has already had the pinnacle of honors: she has been a butter sculpture at the Iowa State Fair.
