There's a lot that can go into what to name your kid. Will it be a family name? Something trendy? Something you heard that one time and it stuck with you?

Even if you've been paying zero attention to anything Hawkeye-related in the last few years, you've seen stuff involving Caitlin Clark. Rightly so, she's incredible.

And now, her impact is extending to the kiddos in Iowa.

According to a survey from Gambling 'N Go, 'Caitlin' is the most popular sports-inspired baby name in Iowa. Not surprised.

The survey asked 3,115 couples which sports stars they would pick if they were to name their kid after one. Besides Caitlin, Iowans also chose Iowa State alum Brock Purdy and Ames native Harrison Barnes for possible sports-related namesakes.

Last year, the two Arconic eagles were named after the basketball superstar.

The parents said an athlete's skills didn't have much to do with their choice, only 26% said that they cared about that. But 74% of parents factored in who the athlete is off the field (or court in this case) when making their naming decisions.

Almost half of parents worried that sports names like Travis and Simone might get too popular, so then you have teams with multiple of both on them.

And as for the athlete's career: 17% of parents said they would consider renaming their kid if their athlete namesake started having a crummy career or public life.
