Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and calm way down.

If you've ever worked in food service, retail, or any public-facing job, you know the general public is an...experience. All the time, people would yell at me for their coupons being expired when I worked in retail.

Now we have another unsatisfied customer starting stuff.

According to a Facebook post by the Lee County Sheriff's Office in Dixon, Illinois, around 4:13 p.m. on August 27th, officers responded to a Casey's General Store in Franklin Grove. When they got there, multiple witnesses confirmed that 41-year-old Brandi Elliott threw hot coffee onto a Casey's employee, of course causing burns to their skin.

Not sure who's drinking coffee at 4:13 in the afternoon but I digress.

To make matters worse, Brandi brandished a knife and threatened the employee with it. So as you can imagine, she's facing a bunch of charges:

  • Aggravated Battery (Class 3 felony)
  • Aggravated Assault/Public Property (Class A misdemeanor)
  • Aggravated Assault/Use of Deadly Weapon (Class A misdemeanor)

The sheriff's office says that Brandi was released from custody with pretrial provisions, in accordance with Illinois' SAFE-T act.

There's no word on how the Casey's employee is doing (we all know how scalding gas station coffee can be), nor have they released any reason she gave on why she decided to throw the coffee and whip out the knife. Maybe they were out of her favorite breakfast pizza?

Another shining example of why the customer is not always right.
