Travel across the Mississippi River is about to get a bit more difficult.

'Bridges of the Quad Cities' may not be the bridges Iowa is known for, but bridges around here are getting their share of activity this year. We already have the Rock Island Arsenal Bridge (or Government Bridge) that's closed all summer while crews construct a roundabout at the Davenport base of the bridge. The old I-74 bridge has been blown up over the last several months too.

That leaves Centennial Bridge. That bridge can be a speeding fest, but work that's about to be done on the bridge will slow that way down.

According to Illinois Department of Transportation, crews are going to start work on cleaning the bridge on April 15th.

The work will be done during the day and traffic is going to be reduced to one lane in each direction. There will not be lane closures on the bridge from 6:00 a.m.-8:00 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. The work is expected to take a week to complete.

You're urged to find alternate routes if you have to go over Centennial Bridge (so really, your only option is the 74 Bridge). Or if you don't want to do that, just make sure you allow for extra time since it's going to be down to one lane.

As with any work zone, don't have your nose in your phone, don't speed (like you could anyway) and pay attention to the signs and the barrels to figure out what lane you're supposed to be in.

New Iowa Coffee Shop Is Becoming 'Iconic' With First-Ever Design

There's a new coffee shop in Iowa and it's the first of its kind in America. Iconic Coffee + Energy (2777 18th St) in Bettendorf, has opened in the old Jiffy Lube. After construction and making the necessary changes to the building, Iconic Coffee + Energy is now the first full-enclosed, dual drive-thru coffee shop in the U.S.
