Davenport Sinkhole Swallows Up Some of Gaines St.
One of my "irrational" fears has become a reality for one street in Davenport.
The Davenport Police Department has closed Gaines Street between 14th and 15th streets because of a sink hole - estimated around 8 ft. deep.

According to WQAD, motorists are asked to avoid the area and follow the detour.
The report says North bound traffic will be detoured at 14th Street to Main and then North to Locust. The South bound traffic will be detoured at 15th Street to Warren and then South.
You can expect the detour to remain until crews can get out to fix the sink hole - an estimated five to ten days.
(In my universe) The world as we know it is ending. A sink hole means the end is near! AHHH!
