Snow Or Sun? Farmers’ Almanac Releases Thanksgiving Forecast For Iowa And Illinois
How much exactly are we going to be thankful for this year?
If you're getting ready to go 'over the river and through the woods' for Thanksgiving, or if your relatives are crashing at your house this year, our forecasts are really important for the Thanksgiving season.
Old Farmers' Almanac, who really does maintain a super reliable record, has released their Thanksgiving Weather Forecast for the whole country. Depending on where you're going, it may not be that bad. But you may not need to pack a sweatshirt either.
In almanac terms, all of Iowa and Western Illinois are considered part of the Heartland, while the middle and eastern part of Illinois is classified as Lower Lakes.
So what's going to happen Thanksgiving week?
The Heartland's forecast is expected to be warmer than usual, maybe some rain around Thanksgiving Day. The Upper Midwest could see some snow flurries though. Here's our half of their map:
Meanwhile, as for the Lower Lakes, it's suppose to be beautiful, sunny, and no rain or snow.
For Iowa and western Illinois, they recommend staying flexible with your travel plans and you'll find easy weather stretches to travel in. For the other half of Illinois, travel should be easy peasy in sunny, clear weather.
The only places you'll likely run into snow are out west (Idaho area), Alaska (duh), and the northeast (Maine area), or possibly in Minnesota (considered part of the Upper Midwest).
