After over 3 years of serving subs to residents of Davenport and the rest of the Quad Cities, Firehouse Subs at 5 points intersection has closed permanently. There was no announcement of the sub shop closing leaving patrons and community members wondering and speculating.

Firehouse Subs opened its Davenport location in May of 2018. After serving premium subs, sub sandwiches, salads, and more, for over 3 years, they have closed its door permanently.

Located at 1800 N Division St. in Davenport, Firehouse Subs was brought to the Quad Cities by local entrepreneur, Bryan Johnson, according to the Quad-City Times. Johnson opened his first Firehouse Subs in Cedar Falls, IA, which is still open.

In May of 2017, Firehouse Subs announced the new location was coming to Davenport but never gave an official opening date, according to KWQC.

There is no official reason for the closure of Firehouse Subs in Davenport, but members of the Facebook group, QC Take Out and Delivery, speculate personal reasons of employees for the closure.

In November 2021, Restaurant Brands Internation (RBI) acquired Firehouse Subs in an all-cash transaction for $1 billion. RBI is also the parent company for other Quad Cities fast-food restaurants including Burger King and Popeyes, and another brand, Tim Hortons.

Firehouse Subs was founded in Jacksonville, Florida in 1994 by brothers and former firefighters Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen. Firehouse Subs creates hot and hearty subs piled high with the highest quality meats and cheeses. Firehouse Subs also has a commitment to saving lives through the non-profit, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

Founded in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Firehouse Subs founders, Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen traveled to Mississippi where they fed first responders as well as survivors. After traveling back to Florida, they founded Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to provide lifesaving equipment and needed resources to first responders and public safety organizations.
