This better not be another round of this.

Right after the city of Davenport announced a road closure along River Drive due to the Mississippi River forecast, there's a new warning out today.

As of Friday, April 17th, the National Weather Service Quad Cities has issued a Flood Warning for the following locations along the Mississippi River

  • Mississippi River at Rock Island LD15 (affects Muscatine, Scott & Rock Island Counties)
  • Mississippi River at Ill. City LD16 (affects Muscatine, Rock Island Counties)

The flood warning is in effect late Monday night until further notice.

According to the latest report from NWS Quad Cities (next update will be 4/18/26), the Mississippi River is expected to hit 16 ft., compared to Friday morning when the river was at 13.7 ft.

Now, the river is forecasted to hit 16.1 ft. and rise until Friday, April 24th.

Impacts

At 16 ft, here's what the river impacts:

  • sidewalks along the river at LeClaire Park
  • Credit Island Lane
  • 4700 block of Moline's River Drive

Take some deep breaths, use your common sense and don't walk through sidewalks and areas under the river. nor drive your car through them. You've heard the phrase 'turn around don't drown' by now, right?

At the moment, the river is expected to keep rising through next week.

Flood stage is considered 15 ft.

You can keep up with the latest from the National Weather Service Quad Cities on their Facebook or on their website.
