Grocery store chain Hy-Vee received an honor from Forbes right in time for Veterans' Day.

Forbes listed Hy-Vee as one of America's Best Employers For Veterans. How did they come up with that list? It was through a survey by Statista, which looked at about 7,000 American veterans that are working for companies who employ at least 1,000 people within the U.S.

Those veterans were given the chance to voice their opinions about their employers on topics like atmosphere, development, image, working conditions, salary and wage, diversity, workplace, and other questions that involve veterans in the workforce.

Jeremy Gosch, CEO and President of Hy-Vee, said in a press release:

As part of our mission to be the best place to work in America, we are honored to receive this recognition for our efforts in recruiting and retaining individuals who have dedicated their lives to protecting and defending ours. This award reinforces our commitment to supporting veterans and active-duty military members as they transition to civilian life.

Hy-Vee does a Veterans' Day Breakfast that includes a free breakfast for all veterans and active-duty military members from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Hy-Vee stores.

According to a press release, to date, Hy-Vee has raised more than $2.7 million for veteran organizations through different ways, including the Hy-Vee Homefront program that began in 2013.
