Blistering heat will return to the Quad Cities, Eastern Iowa, and Western Illinois today (Tuesday, July 5). It's going to be so hot outside the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities has issued a Heat Advisory for today will go into effect starting at noon (12 p.m.) today. The Heat Advisory will last until 8 p.m. tonight.

How hot is it going to be? The National Weather Service of the Quad Cities says to expect peak heat indices around 105° and possibly higher in some areas.

With those hot temperatures and high humidity, heat illness could occur which means you should drink plenty of fluids, stay in the air-conditioning, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

If you have young children and pets, make sure you check the backseat so as to not leave them in the backseat in the heat and unattended.

Officials say you should take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Make sure you know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
