How You Can Watch A Pixar Favorite Outside In Davenport
During the summer, residents in Davenport and throughout the Quad Cities had a chance to enjoy movies outside in LeClaire Park with Movies on the Mississippi. This Friday, the City of Davenport and the Davenport Parks and Recreation Department will host its first fall Movies on the Mississippi and the series' second-to-last event.
Friday's film is a Disney and Pixar classic about a lightning-fast vehicle trying to get back to the winner's circles while making new friends.
What Are Movies On The Mississippi?
Hosted by the City of Davenport and the Davenport Parks and Recreation Department, Movies on the Mississippi is a movie series held at LeClaire Park in downtown Davenport. Throughout the summer and into early fall, residents in Davenport and in the Quad Cities, have a chance to enjoy five family-friendly films outside with the Mississippi River as the backdrop.
The first three films that played this year included Jumanji, The Sandlot, and Frozen. The final Movies on the Mississippi will be Friday, October 7th (weather pending) and feature the film Hocus Pocus.

The featured film playing this Friday at Movies on the Mississippi is a Pixar and Disney classic, it was released in 2006 and became an instant worldwide hit. Starring Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Bonnie Hunt, Michael Keaton, and Paul Newman, Friday's Movies on the Mississippi featured film is CARS.
While traveling to California to race against The King (Richard Petty) and Chick Hicks (Michael Keaton) for the Piston Cup Championship, Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) becomes lost after falling out of his trailer in a run-down town called Radiator Springs.
While there he slowly befriends the town's odd residents, including Sally (Bonnie Hunt), Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy). When it comes time for him to leave the championship is no longer his top priority.

There is absolutely no cost to attend Movies on the Mississippi. This is a free, family-friendly event. All you need to do is bring your family, friends, a blanket, warm clothing, and smiles to LeClaire Park.
Friday's festivities begin at 6 p.m. with the featured film beginning at dusk (7:13 p.m. to be exact).
