Hy-Vee Permanently Closes Eastern Iowa Location Unexpectedly

There have now been two Hy-Vee locations that have closed in the same eastern Iowa city.

Earlier this summer, Hy-Vee announced it will be closing select stores in Iowa. One of those locations included the store at 3019 Rockingham Rd. in Davenport.

According to a spokesperson, the Hy-Vee location at Rockingham Road has not met Hy-Vee's financial expectations over the past several years. Rockingham Road Hy-Vee employees were offered a position at another area Hy-Vee store and kept their same pay and benefits.

Prescriptions were automatically transferred to another local Hy-Vee pharmacy and Hy-Vee has been offering solutions to help those severely impacted by the three store closures in Davenport, Cedar Rapids, and Waterloo.

The last day for the Rockingham Road Hy-Vee was June 23rd.

But another Davenport Hy-Vee store has closed but the news has gone under the radar. Maybe it's because of the kind of store it is but either way, it's closed.

Hy-Vee has closed its wine and spirits store at 3301 W Kimberly Rd Ste R. The closure took place at the end of July.

According to sources, this Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits location was the liquor and wine provider for several bars and restaurants on the west end of Davenport. Those duties have been transferred to the Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits department located at the Northgate Hy-Vee, 1823 E Kimberly Rd, Davenport.

The Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits store at W Kimberly next to Dollar Tre has its sign removed from the top brick.

Below in the glass windows where beer signs and other advertisements were displayed are now signs saying, "STORE IS CLOSED."

Luckily, the wine and spirits department at the previously mentioned Northgate Hy-Vee has a stellar selection of liquor, wine, beer, and every other adult beverage you can think of.
