Every time I see notice of a road closure around I-74 I get a little excited. I know that's weird but for me it just means we're getting closer and closer to the end of this bridge project.

Here's the newest closure that starts next week.
Beginning Monday, January 4, weather permitting, 4th Avenue will be closed daily between 23rd Street and 19th Street from approximately 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Saturday.
One traffic lane will reopen at the end of each day. The daily closures are needed to allow contractors to set steel girders and remove old I-74 structures. The work is anticipated to be completed in late January.
Alternate routes:
The I-74 project Facebook page is a great place to follow. Here are the suggestions for moving around the QCA.
If you're trying to get to Iowa-bound on-ramp at 6th Ave., you can take 7th Avenue and turn right onto the new connecting road to the 6th Avenue on-ramp, or take River Drive to the new Iowa-bound I-74 on-ramp.
If you're wanting to continue west on 4th Ave. you can take either River Drive or 7th Avenue to 19th Street to 4th Avenue.
Keep up to date by following the I-74 Facebook page for updates.
