Illinois Is One Of Most Beer-Loving States In America
Who doesn't love beer? Well, maybe people who have had too many the night before. But an ice cold beer is hard to turn down. A really good craft beer from your local brewery or your favorite brewery is also hard to turn down.
In a state like Illinois, you have a ton of breweries and places close by to go and get an ice cold beer. With bars, breweries and gas stations close by to get cold beer in Illinois, it makes sense that the people there really love it. It's also easier to watch the Chicago Bears get their butts kicked when you've had a few dozen beers in you.
In all seriousness, a new study did find that Illinois is a really big fan of beer. As a matter of fact, it was named the second most beer-loving state in the U.S. by innerbody.
The reason that innerbody put Illinois at number 2, besides the fact that Google Trends data put it there, is because the property taxes are so high and it's hard to be a professional or college sports fan in Illinois, people need it to cope. That's not true but it kind of makes sense.
No, Illinois was named the second most beer-loving state in America because they do have some top-notch beers and breweries in Illinois. Goose Island Beer Co. was founded in Illinois and I haven't met a person who doesn't like their beers.
Apologies to those who live across the river in Iowa. I don't know where Iowa landed because they only gave the top 5 and bottom 5.
The main thing that innerbody got super incorrect was Iowa's favorite beer. Sure, it's part of the Budweiser family like Busch Light, but Bud Light? Really? Come to a Hawkeye or Iowa State game for 5 minutes. Then find out Iowa's favorite beer.
