You hope that your state has really good doctors because it's a great place for them to live. But some places aren't good for doctors so less of the good ones live there.

A new study shows that most of the Midwest is great for doctors except for a couple of states, including Illinois. Illinois isn't the best at paying doctors and the medical environment is the worst.

While every state has doctors to take care of the community, some states are the best for doctors and some are excellent. Iowa is one of those excellent states and all we can say is "Thank goodness!"

Illinois Is In The Top 10 Worst States For Doctors

WalletHub released its list of 2024 Best & Worst States for Doctors. To find out which states were the best and which were the worst, they compared all of the states across two key dimensions:

  • Opportunity & Competition
  • Medical Environment

After doing all of the math, WalletHub found that Illinois is the 9th worst state for doctors.

Worst States For Doctors

We'll get to the top 10 best states for doctors, let's look at the bottom.

As we know, Illinois actually is close to the bottom of this list landing at the 9th worst state for doctors, or the 43rd best state. The reason Illinois is so low is that the Land of Lincoln ranked dead last in the Medical Environment dimension.
