The polar opposite aesthetic movies "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" are both box office hits and they're apparently reflected in Illinois and Iowa.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've likely seen something on your social media feed recently about "Barbie", "Oppenheimer", or the huge trend of double-featuring the two called 'Barbenheimer'. Both movies were released on July 21st and so many people made it a full weekend to go see both. It actually does sound fun to pair watching a very pink, cute movie with viewing a movie about an atomic bomb.

WRTV obtained stats from ProjectorScreen.com that show each state's most anticipated flick between the two films. The study looked at geotagged Twitter hashtags and phrases over 30 days. In total, they looked at about 600,000 tweets that included things like: #BarbieMovie, "watch Barbie", "excited for Barbie", "bought tickets for Barbie". And similarly, #Oppenheimer, "watch Oppenheimer", and "excited for Oppenheimer".

Here's Iowa & Illinois's Favorites

Most of the country is apparently in Barbieland, but Iowa and Illinois have a unique distinction.

Iowa and Illinois are split! Iowa likes "Barbie", while Illinois likes "Oppenheimer".

Two very different, highly-anticipated movies. Apparently, Wisconsin and Nebraska also had more to say about "Oppenheimer" than "Barbie" too.

'Barbenheimer' Was Popular In Illinois

Thousands of people got tickets for both movies on the same day. You've seen the memes all over your newsfeed. The 'Barbenheimer' meme is what sparked a lot of those double-feature ticket sales.

According to the Twitter hashtags and phrases that the study found in Illinois, the 'Barbenheimer' idea was definitely popular there.

As you can see, the double-feature idea was super popular in Wisconsin.
