Iowa Parents Will Now Be Able to Give Their Child a Driving Test at Home
KCRG reports that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, parents can now administer a written driver's test for teens at home.
The Iowa Department of Transportation set up a program called "Skip the Trip" last year, which enabled students to take their written test to obtain their learner's permit at local educational sites. The program is being expanded due to testing sites being closed.
In order to take the test at home, the parent or guardian must possess a legal driver's license and fill out a form to become a proctor on the Iowa DOT website.
Once the written test is completed, results are emailed to the student. Once they've passed the test, the teen must then make an appointment with a DOT service center or the county treasurer in order to get their learner's permit.
