Let's face it, there are bad drivers everywhere. While I could stop it at that and we could move on with our lives, I won't. Why? Because we officially know who the Quad Cities thinks is worse at driving. After hundreds of comments and replies, it is official. The Quad Cities thinks Illinois drivers are worse than Iowa drivers.

Earlier this week, we asked a simple question on social media, "who is the worst at driving, Iowa or Illinois drivers?" And my goodness Quad Cities, you definitely let us know.

250 plus comments later, we finally have an answer. No, it's not me making it up. These are you fellow Quad City motorists letting us know who they think drives like trash. I know that these are just opinions so I did some digging, crunched some numbers, and have some hard data to back up why Illinois has worse drivers than Iowa.

But before we get to the facts, let me reiterate what the headline says because I went through every comment tallying up each person's comment. With an overwhelming amount of comments that say 'Illinois', the Quad Cities truly thinks that people on the Illinois side of the Quad Cities are worse at driving than people on the Iowa side.

To put some proof behind this with hard numbers, I went to both the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Illinois Department of Transportation's websites. There, I looked up the number of vehicle fatalities for both states in 2021.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, as of August 27th, 2021, in all 99 counties in Iowa there has been a total of 209 vehicle fatalities.

Now onto Illinois...

To Make This Fair, I Excluded the Chicagoland Area

And by that, I mean I took out the following counties in Illinois:

  • Kankakee
  • Will
  • Cook
  • DuPage
  • Kendall
  • Kane
  • Lake
  • McHenry

If I take out those 8 counties in Illinois, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation, as of August 27, 2021, Illinois has 407 vehicle fatalities. That's 198 more than Iowa.

For those that say "there are bad drivers everywhere", then here is the best comment that I can give you. Thanks, Jen Aceviz!

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
