Mrs. Unwin was nominated by Lauren Behm. Lauren said,

Jennifer Unwin, a special education teacher at North Scott High School, is a teacher that treats her students like her own. She assures students get inclusive opportunities everyday inside the school as well as outside the school. Not only does she provide individual education plans tailored to each students unique needs, but she also takes the time to give them the extra care and TLC they sometimes need like  wiping a face, tying a shoe, addressing special medical needs, noticing when a student is overwhelmed and needs a break or change in routine and adapting the plan every day to best meet students' ever changing needs.

My daughter counts down the days during summer break until she gets to go back to school.  On the weekends she continuously asks how long before she can go to school and see her teacher and team.

Additionally, Jennifer is the lead coach/coordinator for the Lancer Lights cheer team which is an all-inclusive cheer team, which would not exist today if it were not for Jennifer’s persistence and commitment to keeping this special opportunity going for our kids when no one else would.

She once said if she won the lottery, she would get a big house on with a river view and invite all of her graduated students to come live with her.  I genuinely believe she would!

As a mother of a special needs student with limited communication, Jen and her team have always exceeded my expectations in not only educating, but caring for the special needs of my daughter.  I feel like I am sending her to be with her Aunt Jen for the day.  That sense of comfort in sending your child to school every day is priceless.

I hope you will consider her for your teacher of the week.  My post does not begin to her Justice!

Awesome job Mrs. Unwin! For being our QC Teacher of the Week, Mrs. Unwin has been rewarded with a B100 Prize Pack which included a B100 stocking cap, stickers, a Pepsi, a B100 Bluetooth speaker, and more things, plus an awesome cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes
