LAX Will Be Allowing Marijuana In Carry-ons
While this certainly is an interesting development out of LAX, we should get this part out of the way. For anyone excited about the possibility of smoking at the airport, that is still strictly prohibited.
According to CNN the Los Angeles International Airport has announced that it will permit travelers to bring small amounts of legal marijuana through security in their carry-on bags. Now that pot is legal in several US states, this has become a possibility, but it still is not legal on the federal level, so it is recommended that you still need to study up before packing your bags on your way out of LA.
LAX is honoring the current LA laws and regulations, which started as of January 1, 2018, when pot became legal in California .The law states "individuals 21 years of age or older may possess up to 28.5 grams of marijuana and 8 grams of concentrated marijuana for personal consumption." This is allowing travelers over the age of 21 to enter the airport and pass through security with the permitted amounts of marijuana.
According to LAX's official website. "The Los Angeles Airport Police Department will allow passengers to travel through LAX with up to 28.5 grams of marijuana and 8 grams of concentrated marijuana."
This seems like another step forward for those who have been supporting the legalization of marijuana, only time will tell what is going to happen next. It is again highly recommended that you study the law first before bring Pot with you on your carry-on.
