Iowa was recently named the 8th-smartest state in the U.S. But that doesn't mean everybody in the Hawkeye State is a genius.

The "infotainment" website RoadSnacks.net took data from the 119 cities in Iowa with more than 2,000 people. The site looked at the percentage of the population with less than a high school education and the percentage of high school dropouts to determine their findings.

Of those 119 towns and cities, LeClaire was actually the second-smartest, with only 2.2% of its 2,779 residents receiving less than a high school education. Conversely, Burlington received the poorest ranking of QCA towns, coming in 12th of 119. Muscatine (16th), Tipton (21st), and Clinton (29th) also placed in the lower third. Davenport ranked 45th and Maquoketa placed 50th.

These are the 10 dumbest cities in Iowa:

  1. Eagle Grove
  2. Ottumwa
  3. Shenandoah
  4. Marshalltown
  5. Storm Lake
  6. Sioux Center
  7. Anamosa
  8. Sioux City
  9. Waterloo
  10. Centerville
