Midwest Dog Parks Reopen After Mysterious Canine Illness Closes Them

Local dog parks are reopening after being closed for a contagious canine illness.

According to a press release from the City of Davenport, dog parks in the Quad Cities are reopening this weekend. 

Back in the fall, the dog parks closed during the spread of a mysterious pneumonia-like illness that impacted dogs all over the country, and eventually here in the QC.

Under the advice from local veterinarians, Davenport, Moline, Bettendorf, and Rock Island closed multiple local dog parks since late November to prevent the spread of the sickness.

Davenport says that there has been a limited number of cases throughout December and the spread of it in both Iowa and Illinois has slowed down. That's why they're reopening the dog parks.

It's not really the time of the year for dog parks, but hey, if you want to take Fido out to play in the snow, here you go.

Before you take your pupper to a city dog park though, make sure they're up-to-date on shots and vaccines and keep them home if they're acting sick. And just follow the rules of the dog parks overall.

According to our friends at KWQC, it won't be the warmest weekend for a dog park visit, but you can probably catch a random warm winter weekend at some point. It is the Midwest, after all.
