Mississippi River Distilling Company Has A New Cocktail Room And We Need To Visit ASAP
LeClaire favorite Mississippi River Distilling Company has finally been given the greenlight to serve cocktails, as of July 1, and their new Cody Road Cocktail House is a game-changer. In the past, visitors to the distillery have been able to take a tour, then have a small tasting sample of liquor afterward. Thanks to recent legislation, Iowa distilleries can now serve by the glass.
And the distillery is serving up some pretty tasty sounding cocktails, including the Blueberry Rose, featuring River Rose Gin, ginger-lime simple syrup, and fresh blueberries; the Lost Pilot, with River Pilot Vodka, grapefruit juice, and honey simple syrup; and the Cody Road Float, which includes Cody Road Rye, Iowa Coffee Liquor, Iowish Cream, and Root Beer.
All of the refreshing cocktails can be enjoyed either in the Cocktail House or on Mississippi River's gorgeous outdoor patio. While the distillery does not serve food, patrons are allowed to bring food in or have it delivered.
This is such a major step in the right direction for Iowa businesses. Being able to fully experience a cocktail made with the distillery's liquor gives customers a much better taste of what the distillery has to offer, and will hopefully lead to increased sales for the company. I can't wait to get my hands on one of their drinks.
