Seeing two lanes closed on a street in the Quad Cities (especially on Harrison street) doesn't usually mean much, we see it all the time. It usually only adds about 5 minutes to our drive, at most, during peak driving hours.

The reason I took notice of this road work is that it represents the start of the road work season. Sorry to start your Monday with that reminder, but it is coming!

This road work is taking place on Harrison street next to 32nd. Close to 'Harrison Street Escape Room'.

Road work usually slows down a bit over the winter months, but as the snow melts the construction signs go up, and the Quad Cities could be seeing some major projects this year. To my fellow Davenport residents, a few will be affecting us.

A Big Project:

The City of Davenport is planning more work on the highly-traveled 53rd street starting this Spring. According to the QC Times Davenport mayor, Mike Matson said this about the impending project. You can see more here.

Aldermen approved plans for the second phase of widening and reconstruction of E 53rd street from Eastern to Elmore Circle.

Road work is always important for spots in the Midwest, especially after winter. Keeping the roads updated is a great way to avoid bad roads that wreck our cars, but I'm still going to swear under my breath when I see a "Road Closed To Through Traffic" on a street I need to take.

We will keep you updated on future road work plans as the Spring season kicks off here in the Quad Cities.
