New Iowa Coffee Shop Is Becoming ‘Iconic’ With First-Ever Design
It's not hard to see how many empty buildings there are. Some people have the gift of looking at a property that's an eyesore and seeing something better. Aidan Singh did just that with an old two-bay Jiffy Lube in Iowa.
Singh is the owner of the brand-new Iconic Coffee + Energy in his hometown of Bettendorf, IA. Aidan took the empty building at 2777 18th St. in Bettendorf and turned it into a coffee shop he'd been dreaming of owning for years.
During the shop's soft opening, I stopped by to try the coffee and see exactly what Aidan turned it into. I got more than I could ask for with a tour and a behind-the-scenes look at exactly what Singh did to make this new coffee place truly iconic.
Iconic Coffee + Energy is a first for Iowa and America
Starting Monday, March 11, 2024, Iconic Coffee + Energy, the Quad Cities' newest coffee shop is fully open. Iconic is open 7-days a week from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
Owner Aidan Singh, 23, of Bettendorf, along with his parents AJ and Tamy, gave me a tour of Iconic which is located in the old Jiffy Lube at 2777 18th St. in Bettendorf. The shop has been closed for around 3 years and repurposing this site has been welcomed by the city of Bettendorf.
As the nation's first fully-enclosed double drive-thru coffee shop, Singh had a lot of renovations to make before opening up its doors saying,
"We added an exhaust fan on top to make sure there isn't exhaust build-up. We also have the doors open during business hours. It took a lot but we filled in the maintenance repair holes and they are reinforced with enough steel and concrete to hold more than 50,000 lbs."
You can see those walls of concrete below.
Aidan and his family have thought of everything, including the answer to the question, "What if a car leaking oil comes through to get coffee?" With an insane water-filtration system and top-of-the-line plumbing, any worry you may have about mixing coffee and cars has been taken care of.
Aidan has almost 20 employees who are trained and ready to serve the Quad Cities. Owning a business his dream in his hometown has also become a dream of his.
"I've always wanted to start a business i in my hometown where hopefully the community can support me."
He was definitely being supported when we showed up.
Almost two dozen cars were in line waiting to try the coffee and be one of the first to drive-thru the bays at Iconic.
What are the primary plans for the bays? Aidan shared with me,
"Lane 1 is going to be where you drive through and order. Lane 2 will be for mobile pickup orders when we start accepting them."
Iconic Coffee + Energy also has a walk-up window for those who want to stretch their legs.
