As part of a multi-million dollar project, a new movie theater will be opening up in Davenport.

Governor Kim Reynolds announced four projects today that are part of Destination Iowa grant funding. One of them is a movie theater in Davenport.

It will be a two-screen movie theater called The Last Picture House. Cinema Paradiso, LLC has been awarded $600,000 that will go toward transforming an unoccupied building in the city into a theater, though it's not been said what building that is. The movie theater is set to have a social lounge, cocktail bar, and a rooftop bar. Here's what the release from the Governor's office said:

With connections to Hollywood, the movie theater will be the home of exclusive events featuring actors alongside local filmmakers and film screenings. The space will also include a social lounge, cocktail bar, and a rooftop bar. The award represents 16% of the total project investment of $3,719,075.

The other green-lit projects in Destination Iowa at the moment include an overhaul of the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum in West Branch, the creation of Central River District Park and Discovery Center in Fort Dodge, and several bike path/mountain bike trail projects in Mason City and Cerro Gordo County.

Don't get too excited yet. There's no word on when the movie theater might be ready to go but Destination Iowa mandates that the projects they fund must be completed by June 30, 2026. You can get more details about Destination Iowa and its revitalization efforts on its website here.

I Turned The Quad Cities Into AI Art

To get the AI pictures all I had to do was type in the name of the city, and the state, the algorithm did the rest.

All these photos are computer generated, and at first glance, it looks pretty good... some more than others, but the longer you look the more you notice how weird each one is.

These are all 5 cities in the QC. To start I typed in "Quad Cities" to see the results
