Tonight is game one of the World Series and to the delight of some, my Chicago Cubs wont be making a return trip, but you have to give it up to the "Cubbies." They were the first team since the 2009 Phillies to be defending champs and have 90 wins.

The Dodgers and the Astros will be battling for the right to be named "Champion" for 2017. I'm totally pulling for the Astros in this one.

The Houston Astros are the parent club for our Quad City River Bandits. A handful of their players have spent time here in the Quad Cities entertaining baseball fans in our back yard.

I reached out to my friend Andrew Chesser, GM for the Midwest League Champion Quad City River Bandits and asked if there were any current players on the Houston roster that spent time in the Quad Cities. As of yesterday, the Astros hadn't released their World Series roster, but he gave me the names of players who were on the Astros for the 2017 regular season who had spent playing time in the Quad Cities.

Chris Denenski (not on the WS roster)

Lance McCulvers Jr.

Joe Musgrove

Evan Gattis (rehabbed with the River Bandits this season)

Alex Bregman

Derek Fisher

George Springer (rehabbed with River Bandits in 2014)

The Dodgers have one player on their WS roster, Josh Fields, who rehabbed with the River Bandits in 2013.

Good luck to both clubs, but with the Quad City connection, I bet we will all be rooting for our hometown boys done good.  First pitch is scheduled for 7PM on FOX 18.
