Hats off to volunteers at the Rock Island Botanical Center. Veterans Day is just around the corner, and vets in the Quad Cities recently received a special honor.

According to WQAD.COM, the Quilts of Valor Foundation presented more than fifty quilts to veterans thanking them for their service on November 5th.

The quilts were each made by hand by Quilts for Valor, and around 200 are given out each year.

Quilts of Valor is a national community service program that was founded in 2003 to connect veterans with everyday Americans back at home.

It's a small gesture that means so much to those service members.
