Rock Island Man Killed in Accident Caused by Ice
Winter weather has been wreaking havoc on the midwest for the last few weeks, and sadly, it's claimed many lives.
According to Local News 4, a Rock Island man named Demarco Thornton was driving his van northbound on US 61 near Burlington this week when he lost control of his vehicle.
Ice on the road reportedly made Thornton cross the center lane and slide into the southbound lane, where he was then hit head-on by a semi. Thornton was just 30 years old.
The driver of the truck, 67-year-old Burlington resident Michael A. Meierotto, was not injured in the incident.
