For weeks now Six Flags Great America has been hiring seasonal employees for both their park in Gurnee, IL and also Hurricane Harbor in Rockford, so we knew they has plans to fully open in 2021. The only thing we didn't know for sure up until now was the official grand opening date. Well...now we know. Six Flags Great America in Gurnee will be opening for the 2021 season on April 24th!

So now the big question is, what will a trip to Six Flags look like this summer since the COVID-19 pandemic is still a thing. According to a recent Six Flags Great America press release;

Six Flags Great America will operate at reduced attendance levels utilizing a reservation system. The park is also implementing extensive safety measures including several advanced technology systems to protect guests and employees.

It doesn't matter if you are a Six Flags Season Pass holder, or if you have a single day ticket, all visitors will need to make a reservation in advance at sixflags.com/reserve.

Upon arriving at Six Flags this summer, all visitors will be subject to contactless IR thermal imaging that will screen temperatures of all guests and employees. All guests over the age of 2 will also need to wear a facemask and maintain social distancing guidelines with other groups. Distance markers will be added to all park entry, ride, restroom, retail locations, and dining area as well.
