As tee time for the 2017 edition of the John Deere Classic approaches, a few last minute player shuffles have been made.

A big blow came on Monday when the Quad City Times reported that former JDC champ, and fan favorite Jordan Spieth bowed out of the tournament for the second year in a row. In a statement, Spieth lauded the tournament he has won twice, but says he regrets having to skip to focus on preparations for the British Open.

On Wednesday, tournament officials announced a sponsor exemption for Australia's Chris Luck, the former number one amateur golfer who just turned pro, and tied for fifth at the Quicken Loans tourney last weekend.

All together 156 golfers will take part in the John Deere Classic. Practice rounds start Monday at TPC Deere Run in Silvis.
