Donating blood can be a scary thought. The first time I went to a blood drive I was incredibly worried, but after I donated I realized two things.

The first thing was that it wasn't nearly as scary as I had thought it would be. The second was that I could have just saved another human life, just by sitting there for about 10 minutes. If you are able to donate I highly recommend you consider it.

The main reason we are seeing this need for blood is due to the number of blood drive cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and due to an increased number of activity at local hospitals.

According to KWQC nearly 20,000 donations from cancelled blood drives between March and August of this year.

Those wanting to donate can do so by scheduling an appointment to give blood at an MVRBC Donor Center or mobile blood drive by calling (800) 747-5401, or if you aren't a fan of talking to people there is scheduling online at this link.

If you are nervous because this may be your first time, don't be. The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is one of the kindest organizations I've ever donated with. I look forward to donating blood again with them soon.
