It's easy to think that I-74 is the only major traffic route under construction in the Quad Cities right now. It's not; it's just the biggest one that causes the biggest headache. But for those of you who take the Rock Island Arsenal viaduct, this might give I-74 a run for its money.

Starting last night, drivers will not be able to use the Rock Island viaduct most nights through the summer. According to Our Quad Cities, the viaduct will be closed Sundays through Thursdays from 8 p-m to 5 a-m through August first.

Crews will be working on repairing a short-wall, removing the sidewalk, tweaking the lighting, and installing a parapet to keep traffic on the road.

Fortunately, it shouldn't affect daily traffic too often. But there's still a distinct possibility that there will be intermittent closures during the day, and over the weekends. We'll just have to keep a close eye on things!
