It's going to be a wild weather week in Iowa. Every single piece of clothing you have to combat winter and spring weather, you might as well have it prepared.

We'll see rain, snow, thunderstorms, and maybe a tornado or two can't be ruled out either. As we inch closer to spring, this weather is fairly normal in Iowa but it's something we need to prepare for. Yes, severe weather season is essentially here but winter isn't gone for good.

Besides today (Monday) and Thursday, expect it to be wet, cold, and windy in Iowa even as we head into next weekend.

We'll see the rain kick in overnight tonight and last all day on Tuesday, into Tuesday night, and Wednesday morning. We'll see highs in the low 50s on Tuesday and with the rain, we could hear some rumbles of thunder which if it turns severe could be perfect to produce a tornado or two.

The ground is still pretty frozen and with some areas having the potential to get up to 2 inches of rain, that could lead to localized flooding along rivers and tributaries or flash flooding.

Behind this rain is going to be colder temperatures and good conditions for a blizzard across Iowa but not necessarily in Eastern Iowa.

In central Iowa, these strong winds and snow will result in a period of potential blizzard conditions. Here in the Quad Cities, just make sure all of your stuff is strapped down so it doesn't blow away.

We'll see sunny skies and highs in the mid-40s by Thursday and another chance for rain and snow comes Thursday night into Friday.

Essential Winter Emergency Kit Items

Winter season in the Quad Cities means cold temperatures, heavy snow, and slick roads. Hopefully, you won't ever need to tap into your winter emergency kit, but it's better to have one in your car than to be unprepared.
