Residents on the Illinois of the Quad Cities, today is the day. Tier 3 COVID-19 mitigations go into effect throughout all regions in the state of Illinois.

COVID-19 has been hard on businesses and everyone, and to make things worse, cases are back on the rise throughout all 50 states.

Illinois' Governor J.B. Pritzker announced that Tier 3 mitigation efforts will be imposed on all 11 regions throughout the state of Illinois. These Tier 3 resurgence mitigations officially went into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, November 20.

Tier 3 mitigations effect allow most businesses to stay open, but will drastically limit capacity levels. According to the state of Illinois, these mitigation efforts are an attempt to not issue another Stay At Home Order. Governor Pritzker issued a Stay At Home Order back in the spring during the state of the first COVID-19 wave.

State officials have not said when the Tier 3 mitigation efforts will end, but the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) will continue to track the positivity rates and hospital capacity metrics in regions over a 14-day period. This tracking will help determine if mitigations can be relaxed, or additional mitigation efforts need to be put in place.
