What Olivia imagines her first St. Patrick’s Day weekend in the QC will be like
Even though I was living in the Quad Cities, I worked then entire Saturday of St. Patrick's Day weekend. Tomorrow will be my first real experience and I could not be more excited!
Here's how I imagine it going down...
I wake up bright and early to the sound of Irish bagpipes coming from the streets of downtown Davenport. A little disheveled at first because, duh, it's Saturday and Saturday's are for sleeping in. But not today. About five minutes after my alarm first sounds, I sit up and I'm ready to face the long day ahead. Obviously I'm sporting green pajamas, because, St. Patrick's Day.
After some casual primping, and by casual I mean 2+ hours, I make my way to the kitchen. There, clad in green, I greet my roommate and our friends with a spicy bloody mary to really start the day off right.
When we have a nice base of tomato juice and vodka rolling around in our bellies, we decide it's best to get a little bit of a buzz at the apartment before we venture out into the streets where one could potentially be waiting an upwards of 10 minutes for a drink. Ain't nobody got time of that.
We round up all the mains, and hit the streets #SquadGoals. Quad Cities, we've arrived.
3rd Street is a sea of green with people completely enamored by the only bi-state St. Patrick's Day Parade, and because it's my first year, I decide to take part by walking in it. Or, at the very least, getting a selfie.
When there are no more floats to be seen or candy to grab, it's to the bars we go! What better way to continue the celebration than with everyone's favorite Irish Whiskey?!
A few hours roll by, and the only way we notice it is because our stomachs start to rumble. Looks like we needed a better base. Thanks, Mary! We decide to take a break from the festivities to gorge.
Once we're fueled up, we're ready to keep going until the sun comes up. Our energy levels spike and back to the bars we go!
But first, a dance party. Everybody loves a good DP.
From this point on, just a lot of drunk encounters with our friends and other Quad Citians having the time of their lives.
Once everyone I'm with has sufficiently embarrassed themselves, it's back to bed. Thanks Quad Cities for a hang over that'll last until Tuesday. Here's to St. Patrick's 2017!
