Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Most Of The Quad Cities Area

More snow is on the way and we will see new snow on the ground this weekend. The winter storm will impact most of Iowa, with the bulk of the storm impacting central Iowa, but the edge of the storm is expected to hit the Quad Cities giving us a few more inches of snow.

On Thursday, January 13, the National Weather Service, the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities, and the National Weather Service of Des Moines (NWS), issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of the Quad Cities area. As of Thursday, the following counties will go under the Winter Weather Advisory Friday morning:

The Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect on Friday, January 14th at 6 a.m. for the counties listed above, and end at 6 a.m. on Saturday, January 15th.

Officials from the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities say that the winter storm will bring snow accumulations ranging from 2 to 4 inches. It will impact portions of east-central and northeast Iowa and northwest Illinois.

Those who are traveling should expect slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility at times. The hazardous conditions could impact commutes in the morning and evening.

Other counties in Eastern Iowa and Northeastern Missouri are under a Winter Storm Warning, which is more severe. You can find that full list and read the warning here.
