2023 Road Construction Season Officially Begins In Davenport
It's that time of year. Normally, you see road crews running around the city trying to patch up potholes. With the nice weather we've been having, road construction crews in Davenport get to head out to kick off the 2023 construction season this Sunday. They'll begin things in a spot many people have been dealing with since September 2022.
In a social post on Friday, the City of Davenport and the Public Works Department said that the 2023 road construction season will begin this Sunday, March 5th. To begin several months of navigating around crews, detours, and closed roads, road construction crews in Davenport will be heading to Central Park and Hickory Grove Rd. site to begin phase II of the project.
Construction crews will resume on Central Park and Hickory Grove Rd beginning late Sunday, March 5.
Reconstruction and utility improvements will close westbound travel on Central Park at Hickory Grove Rd. Eastbound Central Park will be rerouted at Hickory Grove Rd. Finally, Hickory Grove Rd will be reduced to one lane in each direction when construction begins.
Motorists are encouraged to follow the signed detour to avoid backups and travel delays.
According to the City of Davenport, phase II of the work is expected to be complete mid-to-late April. Once complete, reroutes of Central Park will change as the work zone moves to Central Park between Hickory Grove Rd and Lincoln.
Luckily, all of this work at Central Park and Hickory Grove Rd. is estimated to be complete by early-to-mid June pending weather and subsurface conditions.
