I have the REALLY bad habit off goofing around with my phone before going to sleep. Whether it's checking social media or playing Words With Friends, it takes me awhile to unplug for the night. Obviously, that's not very good for your sleep. If you have the same problem this list should help you out!

1. Read a book. Research suggests reading has major health benefits.

2. Take a warm bath or shower. I'm typically a "shower when I wake up" person, but their logic makes sense. Taking a shower or bath raises your body temperature, but your body slowly cools once you get out, bringing you to the perfect point for ideal rest.

3. Drink tea. An herbal tea like chamomile or peppermint works wonders, just avoid anything with caffeine.

4. Listen to music. Turn on some calming songs to soothe the soul. Upbeat music can actually increase alertness. Adele? Good idea. Skrillex? Not so much.

5. Have sex. As if you didn't have 37 other reasons to enjoy getting it on, sex produces oxytocin--the feel-good hormone released in the brain--and decreases the stress hormone cortisol, making it easier to relax.

Hopefully, these ideas will help you nod off a little easier. Try more suggestions HERE.
