Beat A Bad Midwestern Cold With This Crazy Remedy
If there's anything that's guaranteed this winter, it's that at one point or another, you're going to end up with a cold. And since no one wants to call in sick if they can avoid it, you'll probably overload on Sudafed and suffer through it.
But there may be an easier, more natural way to feel better fast. I came across this cold remedy, and even though it sounds a little strange, if it works, I'm sold. According to Living Traditionally, the Baking Soda Method is apparently a remedy that dates back to 1925, when Arm & Hammer introduced the idea. The theory behind this method is that baking soda alkalizes your body and allows it to heal faster. Therefore, you would want to take it immediately upon feeling sick.
Here's how it works:
-Day one of a cold: Take a total of six doses of half a teaspoon of baking soda in one cup of water every two hours.
-Day two: Take a total of six doses of half a teaspoon of baking soda in one cup of water every two hours.
-Day three: Take only two doses, one in the morning and one at night.
Continue taking one dose in the morning until you feel better.
Again, I make no claims that this method works, but I think I'm willing to give it a try the next time I come down with a cold.
