2016 marks the 30th anniversary of the most iconic day-off in movie history - Ferris Bueller's Day off (and believe it or not, I just watched it for the first time this year).

The movie premiered in theaters on June 11th, 1986 and was filmed a hop, skip and a jump away from the Quad Cities in Chicago. In honor of the milestone, The Windy City is throwing "Ferris Fest" - a two-day, two-part celebration taking guests from Lake Forest into Chicago that starts today!

There will be two screenings of the movie and you'll get to experience Cameron's house, Glenbrook North High School, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Sears Tower, Wrigley Field + more.

The event will even end with a LIVE re-creation of the movie's 'Twist and Shout' parade sequence, with cameos from the school's secretary Grace & Ferris Bueller's parents, Katie & Tom.

If you're a Ferris Bueller fanatic, this is the event you need.

Staying around the Quad Cities this weekend?
