Some holiday presents might be a bit delayed.

Just in time for the holiday rush, there's a slew of Amazon facilities that are going on strike this week. According to the AP, on Thursday alone, it's an Amazon warehouse in San Francisco, 6 delivery stations in southern California, New York City, Atlanta, and a facility in Skokie, Illinois, outside of Chicago.

NBC Chicago says the strike is an effort to pressure Amazon for a labor agreement during a key shopping period. Amazon allegedly ignored the Dec. 15th deadline that the union had set for contract negotiations, including at the Skokie warehouse.

Will Amazon Gifts Be Delayed?

It seems like the jury is still out on that. Amazon says no, there won't be a delay since the network is so big and specifically saying: "Christmas is not getting ruined for anyone".

But the International Brotherhood of Teamsters do not have a definitive answer. They say that this is the largest strike ever against Amazon and, as Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien said: "if your package is delayed during the holidays, you can blame Amazon’s insatiable greed".

Nearly 10,000 workers across the country are on strike, representing about 1% of Amazon's workforce. Other Amazon workers at facilities across the country are "prepared to join", according to the union.

Amazon also pointed out that their delivery drivers are employed via a third-party business, though Amazon boosted pay for them amid pressure to do so in September. The facility in Skokie employs about 400 drivers.
