Hennepin Theater Trust explains exactly what the award is, "The National High School Musical Theatre Awards (The Jimmy Awards) are a national celebration of outstanding student achievement, recognizing individual artistry in vocal, dance, and acting performance and elevating the importance of theater arts education in schools. The Jimmy Awards are presented by The Broadway League Foundation. Minnesota Jimmy Award Nominees are sponsored by United Properties."

This month Emily will spend 9 days in New York City working and rehearsing with Broadway Music Directors, Actors, and Choreographers.

The Triple Threat Experience according to Hennepin Theater Trust, "is an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City, where young artists attend Broadway shows, meet with industry professionals and participate in workshops. After rehearsals, coaching, and performing at Spotlight Showcase, four students of the 24 Triple Threat students are awarded the Triple Threat New York Experience fueled by Sun Country Airlines."

According to the post, Emily Winn is the second Davenport Central student to represent Iowa at the Jimmy Awards. Back in 2019, Peyton Reese represented Iowa in the Jimmy Awards.

The Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards showcase is on Saturday, June 18th at 7 PM. To watch go to Iowapbs.org.

Emily Winn was recently cast as Ariel in the Blue Devil Production of Under The Sea. This performance took place back in April.

Emily Winn, without a doubt, is a talented student and has the potential to go far. It is great to see a young Davenport student representing the Quad Cities.

Once again, congratulations to Emily!
