Eastern Iowa Kindergarten Teacher Awarded For Bilingual Help, Helping Kids “Soar”

It's the Fall 2024 semester and we are heading out to schools with our awesome program with Nothing Bundt Cakes to honor and reward our awesome Quad Cities teachers and educators. It's called QC Teacher of the Week and we are so excited to announce this week's teacher of the week!

This week, we went to a Davenport elementary to make the surprise happen.

Congrats to Elizabeth Paez, Kindergarten teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in Davenport!

Samantha Mueller, a former student and a parent of one of Mrs. Paez's now students, nominated her, saying:

Mrs. Paez has been helping the littlest of Jefferson Jets take off and soar, for well over 25 years! How do I know this? Well, I was a Kindergarten Jet myself, when meeting Mrs. Paez for the first time. Now, I’m 33, with a daughter who loves being in her class this year. Talk about dedication! Another special thing about Mrs. Paez, is that she is bilingual in Spanish and English. So she has the ability to help Spanish speaking students, some who may even be in the early stages of English speaking, succeed in the classroom with ease. A lot of times, there is also a language barrier between Spanish Speaking parents at home, and English speaking teachers at school. Mrs. Paez has the ability to bridge that gap in communication, ensuring that parents can confidently engage and play a huge part in the success of their children’s education too.

She really just fits into her role as an educator so well, and I think that contributes to her many years of successful specialness lol. Kind of like that one piece, that finishes a puzzle, and makes it complete.
