Eastern Iowa, Northwest Illinois Under A Winter Storm Watch

Several counties in Eastern Iowa and Northwestern Illinois have been upgraded to a Winter Storm Watch ahead of Thursday's pending snowstorm. The National Weather Service of the Quad Cities has issued the watch to go into effect starting late Wednesday night into Thursday afternoon.

On Tuesday, the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities issued a Winter Storm Watch for counties in Eastern Iowa and Northwest Illinois.

According to the issue, a winter storm is expected to move through Iowa and Illinois Wednesday night into Thursday. The storm is expected to bring mixed precipitation and a round of accumulating snow to parts of Iowa, Missouri, and Illinois.

Officials from the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities say there is still uncertainty about where the heaviest band of snow takes place but the amount of snow could exceed 4 inches.

Winds are also expected to gust up to 35 mph causing blowing and drifting snow.

Expect slippery road conditions, especially during Thursday's morning and evening commutes. Areas of blowing snow could also reduce visibility drive carefully and safe by keeping your distance from the car infront of you.
