The Davenport Police Department is warning residents and anyone who receives a text message about a scam involving the Davenport Fire Department. Davenport police officials say,

"If you have a cell phone, you probably use it dozens of times a day to text people you know. But have you ever gotten a text message from an unknown sender? It could be a scammer trying to steal your personal information."

Davenport police officials report that they have been alerted that some residents are receiving text messages about selling hoodies for the Davenport Fire Department. The DFD is not sending these text messages, selling hoodies via text, and is not affiliated with this in any form which means one thing:

This is a scam.

Davenport police say you receive this text message show about, delete it right away. Do not click the link, and do not provide any personal information on any associated website. Definitely do not give any money either.

If you have been scammed out of money or your personal information has been compromised, or know someone who has, you may file a report online here.
