Eastern Iowa Ride To Support Gold Star Families To Start, End In Bettendorf Saturday
A local organization is giving the Quad Cities a chance to be patriotic and to support our troops this Saturday with a ride in Eastern Iowa. The SEAL Family Legacy's Inaugural Legacy Ride will start and end this Saturday in Bettendorf and the public is welcome to attend.
The SEAL Family Legacy’s Board of Directors announced a very exciting ride to support our troops and fallen soldiers and their families. It's their Inaugural Legacy Ride happening this month and the board is extending an invitation to the public to attend this free patriotic event.
The annual ride’s purpose is to spread awareness of U.S. military members who lost their lives in service to our country and to raise both awareness and financial support for the children and families they left behind also known as Gold Star Families.
At this time, well over 100 participants have “RSVP’d”, including some U.S. Navy SEALs, with the potential to reach up to approximately 500 participants in total. No one is required to RSVP for this special event and ride.
The ride will begin at the Waterfront Convention Center in Bettendorf, head up to the Dubuque area, through Maquoketa, Goose Lake, and LeClaire. The ride will arrive and end at The Quarry in Bettendorf at approximately 4:00 PM.
Participants can expect police escorts at various points throughout the ride. Overpasses and streets along the route are also expected to be lined with first responders, various groups, and local townspeople, all displaying American Flags and showing patriotic support.
The event will take place Saturday, July 16th, 2022. Opening ceremonies will start at 9:45 a.m. with a presentation of colors by local Vietnam Veterans at the Waterfront Convention Center in Bettendorf. The ride is scheduled to leave at 11:00 a.m. and is open to all vehicles capable of safely maintaining the minimum posted speed limit on highways and interstates.
Food and drinks will be available at various stops along the ride route and at the conclusion of the ride from vendors, and participants will have the opportunity to learn more about SEAL Family Legacy’s mission.
All are welcome to attend the opening ceremonies at 9:45 AM, whether riding or not. This free event provides an opportunity for all to learn what SEAL Family Legacy’s 501c3 non-profit is about and offers attendees the opportunity to help spread the word of its mission of serving Gold Star Families and honoring the fallen.
